Today i learned how to boil an egg the right way..

Well it's my 2nd week in a Culinary School, so yes i am not yet a Chef, but i'm hopeful to become one someday..=D

Our Chef Instructor asked one of my classmate if she knows how to boil an egg, well of course our reaction is like "sisiw!" then He asked her to describe how, then she said "Put a water in the saucepan, put the egg then place it in the stove and let it boil"

We all agreed since it is also how we usually do it, but our Chef corrected her..

I learned that to boil an egg, we should let the water boil first before putting the egg to the saucepan ( Because you will never predict when it's gonna boil, so you will not know kung ilang minutes na eh we have different types of boiled eggs pa.. Like Soft boiled or the malasado, the Wax boiled- the sliced egg you usually see when you order salads like ceasar salad, and Hard Boiled egg and each of them has a boiling time. For Soft boiled- 5-7 minutes, Wax Boiled 7-9 minutes, then Hard boiled 10-12 minutes.)

Then he also discussed how you are going to know if it's overcooked, he said if you noticed a greenish color in the yolk,  or gray colored, then the nutrients are gone, and all you are getting is the cholesterol. So it's very important to cook your egg the right way since it is a rich source of protein and vitamins.

Note: If you are boiling an egg from the fridge, make sure to leave it first in a room temperature before boiling to avoid cracks. =)

Yes, i know for some of you this is very basic, but it is always good to know how to do it the right way. =)
